Horse back riding and Stables

Two of the three stables on Hilton Head offer activities of interest to visitors.Horse at Lawton stables on Hilton Head

Lawton Stables, located in Sea Pines plantation, offers guided trail rides for people 8 years old and up through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve, a 600 acre preserve where many plants and animals can be observed. Also available are pony ride for kids 7 and under, hayrides (also through the Forest Preserve) and professional training and riding lessons. 843-671-2586.

Sandy Creek Stables provides riding lessons, boards privately owned horses and offers some amenities for horse owners, but beyond that, no tourism related activities. 843-342-2771.

Not far off the Hilton Head Island are stables that provide a variety of amenities:

Moss Creek Stables in Moss Creek Plantation has ten acres of paddocks and rings. They offer a full program of riding instruction.

Palmetto Bluff has Longfield Stables has extensive facilities primarily to serve guests of The Inn at Palmetto Bluff as well as residents of Palmetto Bluff, but it provides lessons, stabling and training to the general public.

Oldfield Plantation has an equestrian center that is for members only.

Rose Dhu Equestrian Center in Bluffton is a large equestrian center offering full service, layover or haul-in access. It is under new management, so check their web site or call them.

Rose Hill Plantation has an equestrian center that offers lessons to the public but is not offering trail rides.
